We are sensitive to the needs and circumstances of our beneficiaries.
Lasting solutions are grounded in sound evidence.
Information and knowledge should be shared.
We work as a team to attain success.
We will be honest, do our best, and treat others with dignity and respect.
Our history
Clay Mathile founded The Mathile Institute for the Advancement of Human Nutrition in 1989. Inspired by the work of his friend Dr. Norman Borlaug, Nobel Laureate and father of the Green Revolution, Clay combined his passion for science and nutrition with his belief that no child should suffer from the lack of quality food to create sustainable and practical solutions.
Since selling The Iams Company in 1999, the former CEO and owner has remained active in several business ventures and devotes most of his time to philanthropic interests, serving as a Trustee on several nonprofit boards focused on education, medical innovation, and social justice. The Mathile Institute is one of many initiatives Clay and his wife, MaryAnn, have created as part of their multi-generational Mathile Family Foundation to help transform the lives of children and families in need.
